If you were at this year’s Canberra Latin Dance Festival (CLDF) you’d know that it was one of the best so far. Held at the intimate, classy, and centrally-located Canberra Rex Hotel over the weekend of 7-9 October, attendees got to spend three nights and two days dancing their hearts away all under the one roof.

This ultimate highlight reel by the talented Mo’ Creative Media captures the essence of the festival perfectly.
Thank you Vinicius and Micael.

The new venue was a seven-year dream of Festival Directors, Andrea and Raquel (who also happen to be our very own Salsabor Directors).

“Since attending our first New York Congress in 2010 our dream was always to have a top festival that encompasses our family vibe in a high-quality hotel, and so we did it,” Andrea said.

“When we discovered the five-star Rex Hotel after its renovation and that they were happy for us to hold the festival there we jumped at the opportunity.”

“Bringing our international guests to perform was a huge highlight. Omar and Greysa from OMambo Project in the US and Dahlia from Brazilian Fantasy in the UK brought an exciting element to the festival. Their performances and workshops were fantastic.”

“Seeing our Salsabor teams perform was also a very proud moment. It takes a lot of preparation, practice and courage to perform. Well done all of you!”

We caught up with Maeve from the Zouk Sensation/Salsabor team after the festival and this is what she had to say, “I loved performing. The space was big and open, so it felt like you could just step out and fill the room with your attitude, your moves, the story your dance tells. And the crowd was really responsive, so it was this gorgeous loop of excitement and exaltation.”

We also had three of our instructors run three workshops over the festival, Ben and Eva teaching Bachata, Amit and Emily teaching Zouk, and Raquel and JP teaching Salsa. They did such a great job!

“A big thank you hugs go to my family, my hubby, our beautiful international guests, all the artists, the dance schools and attendees that supported our event, and to our dream team! It was a festival to remember,” Andrea said.

Before we go, are you joining us at our last big event of the year? Grab your ticket! We can’t wait to dance with you.
