When it comes to dance there are no favourites for our Term 3 star student Sarah, she loves it all.
“I love that as soon as you walk into the studio all of the day’s stresses and dramas are forgotten,” Sarah said. “I love that dance provides a creative outlet and consistently challenges you, and most of all I love that Adam (her partner) and I can do something we both love together.”

It’s this love that had Sarah jumping into her dancing last term with Ale and Bo’s salsa classes and the challenge of Ben and Eva’s intermediate Bachata class, although, she says, “All the classes that I have taken at Salsabor have been awesome. I can’t choose a favourite!”
Sarah was over joyed to receive Salsabor’s most exceptional student award for term 3. And we were over joyed to give it to her.
“There’s such a great atmosphere at Salsabor,” Sarah said. “Everyone is so friendly and the instructors really make you feel like you can achieve anything you set your mind to. It sounds corny, but I feel like Salsabor has become my second home!”
We don’t think it sounds corny. The family and community atmosphere is the heart of Salsabor and we want all of our students to feel like it is a second home. We’re so glad that it is that way for you, Sarah.
When asked about her life before dancing Sarah couldn’t recall.
“I’m struggling to think what my life was like before I started dancing,” she said. “I always wanted to learn, but was always too shy or introverted to give it a go (getting kicked out of my first and only ballet class as a kid didn’t help haha).”
“Since starting with Salsabor a year ago I have met so many amazing people and have definitely become a happier, more confident person. I’m so excited to see what the future brings. Why didn’t I do this earlier?!”
“I also can’t imagine it not being a part of my life. If I couldn’t dance I would most likely spend most of my spare time watching dodgy dance movies. I would probably stop counting steps and calling out salsa moves in the middle of the night too!”
With Term 3 over, Sarah has her sights on Term 4 starting tonight!
“I’m excited to catch up with friends after the break and maybe even see some new faces around the studio,” she said. “I also can’t wait for the Canberra Latin Dance Festival later this month!”
We’re excited for this fourth and final term for 2015 and the Canberra Latin Dance Festival too. Are you?!
There’s still time to sign up for classes for Term 4. We have Salsa, Bachata, Barre Attack, Cha Cha, Zouk, Zumba, and Samba. Take a look at the timetable to find a class that captures your imagination and then join us!
And make sure to grab your ticket to the only Latin dance festival of its kind in Canberra if you haven’t already. It’s under two weeks away!
Thanks so much for sharing your dance journey with us Sarah. We love having you as part of the Salsabor family.
