You read it here first, Chip Lo, a superstar Hip Hop dancer and instructor is coming to wow the socks off all our hip hoppers for Term 2 starting on Monday.
He’ll be taking you through moves and routines like you’ve never dreamed of. OK, maybe dreamed of but now you’ll be doing it and that is so much better.
Check out one of his routines below:
Street dancer to instructor
Chip is the founder and leader of Project Beats Dance, a very cool Hip Hop only school based in Canberra. It has won dance competitions nationally and internationally, including the Hip Hop International Championships.
Chip started as a street dancer and as his passion for dance grew so did his experience. Soon he was offered opportunities to teach at different dance studios.
This led to forming the Project Beats Crew in 2010, where Chip took a new approach to training, competitions and teaching.
Chippy can teach the basic foundation of Hip Hop from popping, locking and breaking to urban choreography. And he caters to all age groups and skill levels from basic to advanced, kids to adults.
“I love my students and am dedicated to helping them grow as dancers,” Chip said. “I particularly like to provide opportunities to those who show passion, hard work and dedication.”
The Project Beats Crew
“I teach my students my philosophy of dance, the meaning behind it and how it relates to day-to-day life; to stay humble and open minded and be respectful your teacher, seniors and fellow students.”
We’re so excited to have you with us this term Chippy! Book in for his Hip Hop Open class on Mondays at 7.20 PM here.
Like the Sugar Hill Gang, the guys that put hip hop on the music charts, sang in the 1970s:
I said a hip hop, hippie to the hippie,
The hip, hip a hop, and you don’t stop, a rock it
To the bang bang boogie, say, up jump the boogie,
To the rhythm of the boogie, the beat.
Watch their official clip. It’s worth it!
